At a Glance: 5/16 inch radius corner round router bit with 1/2 inch shank, tungsten carbide cutting edge and 1/2 inch bearing for smooth rounded woodworking edges.

The Tork Craft CKP1207 Corner Round Router Bit is designed to create smooth, clean and professional rounded edges on timber and suitable woodworking materials. With its 5/16 inch radius and strong 1/2 inch shank, this bit is ideal for rounding sharp corners on furniture components, shelving, cabinet work, frames, trims and general woodworking projects. CKP1207

The tungsten carbide cutting edge helps provide smooth and accurate cutting, while the bearing-guided design follows the edge of the workpiece for a consistent round-over profile. The 1/2 inch shank offers improved rigidity and stability in compatible routers, making this a practical finishing bit for carpenters, craftsmen, hobbyists, DIY users and woodworking workshops.

Standard Yellow corner round router bit with 1/2 inch shank stability

The CKP1207 forms part of the Tork Craft corner round router bit range and is specifically engineered to provide smooth and accurate cutting. It is a great choice for creating a neat 5/16 inch rounded profile where a softer, more refined edge finish is required.

Product highlights

  • 5/16 inch radius Creates a medium rounded edge profile on suitable timber and woodworking materials.
  • 1/2 inch shank Provides improved stability and is designed for routers fitted with a compatible 1/2 inch collet.
  • Tungsten carbide cutting edge Helps deliver clean cutting performance and good wear resistance.
  • Bearing guided The 1/2 inch bearing helps guide the bit along the edge of the workpiece.
  • Smooth edge finishing Ideal for softening sharp edges on furniture, shelving, cabinets, frames and trim work.
  • Woodworking essential Suitable for carpenters, craftsmen, hobbyists, DIY users and woodworking applications.

Definition: The basic edge-forming bit, the corner-rounding bit rounds an edge to a given radius. The tool is shouldered to cut a fillet. The cut can be used to ease edges, as a simple profile, or as a part of a complex one. Also known as roundover, rounding over, and quarter-round. If a smaller pilot bearing is used, a second shoulder can be produced, in effect making the bit a beading bit.

Features

  • Corner round profile Designed to round over sharp edges for a smoother and more decorative finish.
  • Tungsten carbide cutting edge Helps deliver smooth, accurate cuts in suitable woodworking materials.
  • HSS body and shank Strong body and shank construction for dependable router bit performance.
  • 1/2 inch bearing Allows controlled edge-following when routing along a workpiece edge.
  • 1/2 inch shank design Offers improved rigidity and support in compatible router machines.

Benefits

  • Improves appearance: Creates a professional rounded edge that gives woodworking projects a cleaner finished look.
  • Softens sharp corners: Helps remove harsh edges from boards, shelves, frames and cabinet parts.
  • Consistent results: The bearing helps guide the bit for a more even round-over profile along the edge.
  • Better routing stability: The 1/2 inch shank helps reduce vibration when used correctly in a compatible router.
  • Useful finishing bit: A practical router accessory for furniture making, cabinet work, trim work and general woodworking.

Application

  • Rounding over timber edges.
  • Decorative edge profiling on woodworking projects.
  • Furniture, shelving and cabinet finishing.
  • Frame, trim and moulding work.
  • DIY, carpentry, craft and woodworking projects.
  • Use with router machines only.

Extra Information

  • The CKP1207 creates a 5/16 inch radius corner round profile.
  • The bit has a 1/2 inch shank and should only be used in a compatible 1/2 inch router collet.
  • Ensure that at least 3/4 of the shank length is inserted into the router collet.
  • Do not bottom-out the bit in the collet. Leave approximately 1/8 inch clearance from the bottom of the collet.
  • When removing larger amounts of stock, route in two or more passes for better control and finish.
  • For outside edges, feed the router anti-clockwise. For inside edges or frames, feed clockwise when using a portable router.
  • Use a router table and fence whenever possible for improved control and repeatable edge profiles.

Pro Tips

  • Test the profile on a scrap piece of the same material before routing the final workpiece.
  • Use shallow passes rather than removing too much material in one cut for a cleaner finish.
  • Keep the router base flat and steady against the workpiece to avoid uneven edges.
  • Make sure the bearing is clean and spins freely before use.
  • For best results, move the router smoothly and avoid stopping in one place while cutting.

How to Use

  • Make sure the router is switched off and unplugged before fitting the bit.
  • Insert at least 3/4 of the shank length into the router collet, leaving about 1/8 inch clearance from the bottom.
  • Tighten the collet securely according to the router manufacturer’s instructions.
  • Set the cutting depth to achieve the required 5/16 inch round-over profile.
  • Secure the workpiece firmly before routing.
  • Start the router and allow it to reach full speed before contacting the workpiece.
  • Feed the router steadily in the correct direction and avoid forcing the bit.
  • Switch off the router and wait for the bit to stop completely before removing it from the workpiece.

Safety

  • Always use the correct router bit for the job.
  • Using any tool can be dangerous when incorrect procedures are followed.
  • Always wear eye and ear protection when using a router.
  • Wear suitable gloves when handling the bit, as the cutting edges are sharp.
  • Follow all safety and use instructions supplied with your router.
  • Never use router bits that are dull, damaged or visibly worn.
  • The bit can become hot after use; allow it to cool before handling.
  • Do not force the bit or overload the router.
  • Use a router table and fence whenever possible, especially with larger diameter bits.
  • Use reduced speeds for larger diameter bits and always follow the router manufacturer’s speed guidance.
  • Failure to follow safety instructions and warnings can result in serious bodily injury.

Explaining the Specifications:
  • (d) -> The diameter of the shank or shaft. This size should be the same as the collet size of your router. Example: a small router is mostly supplied with a quarter inch collet that is 6,35 mm inside diameter.
  • Common collet sizes:
    • 1/4" collet = 6,35mm inside diameter
    • 8mm collet = 8mm inside diameter
    • 12mm collet = 12mm inside diameter
    • 1/2" collet = 12,7mm inside diameter
    • NOTE that the 12mm and the 12,7mm (1/2") sizing are often misunderstood. 1/4 inch is not 6mm but exactly 6,35mm. A 6mm shank will not fit in a 1/4 in collet. Wrong sizes will either break the collet or the bit will fall out.
  • TCT = Tungsten Carbide Tipped
  • Allways stay in the MAX Speed range of router bit
