Maykestag Speedcut-Aluminium Solid Carbide End Mill 3mm Long Series

High-performance 3mm solid carbide end mill from the Maykestag Speedcut-Aluminium range, featuring a long-series neck-relieved design, three cutting flutes, Type W geometry and unequal 34°–38° spiral angles for efficient, smooth machining of aluminium and suitable non-ferrous materials.

The Maykestag Code 7950 Speedcut-Aluminium end mill is a high-performance solid carbide milling cutter developed for productive machining of aluminium and other suitable non-ferrous materials. This 3mm cutter combines a three-flute cutting geometry with large, efficient flute spaces and unequal spiral angles between 34° and 38°. The geometry promotes effective chip evacuation while helping to reduce repetitive cutting forces and vibration, supporting a clean surface finish and stable machining at demanding cutting conditions.

The long-series, neck-relieved construction provides additional clearance behind the cutting section. On this 3mm model the cutting diameter is 3.00mm while the relieved neck diameter is 2.90mm, allowing the cutter to machine deeper profiles and walls with reduced risk of the neck rubbing against the workpiece. A precision 6mm DIN 6535-HB shank provides secure clamping in a suitable toolholder.

Built for aluminium machining: The Speedcut-Aluminium geometry combines Type W cutting characteristics, three flutes and generous chip space with unequal helix angles. Aluminium can produce relatively long, continuous chips, so maintaining free chip evacuation is particularly important. The Code 7950 geometry is designed to remove these chips efficiently while maintaining a smooth and stable cutting action.

Precision Made in Austria: Maykestag precision cutting tools are manufactured in Austria with carefully controlled carbide, cutting geometry and dimensional accuracy for professional machining applications.

Product highlights

  • Solid carbide construction: High rigidity and wear resistance support accurate machining, good cutting-edge stability and dependable tool life.
  • Speedcut-Aluminium geometry: Purpose-designed cutting geometry for aluminium and suitable non-ferrous materials.
  • 3mm cutting diameter: Precision h10 diameter tolerance for controlled machining of detailed features, profiles and slots.
  • Three-flute design: Combines productive material removal with sufficient flute space for efficient chip evacuation.

  • Type W geometry: Designed for comparatively soft and long-chipping materials where a free-cutting action and effective chip clearance are important.
  • Long-series neck relief: The reduced 2.90mm neck diameter provides additional clearance when machining deeper shoulders and profiles.
  • 45° corner chamfer: Features a 0.05mm × 45° cutting-edge chamfer.
  • DIN 6527 L: Manufactured to the long-series dimensional standard for solid carbide end mills.
  • DIN 6535-HB shank: Precision cylindrical shank with clamping flat for secure holding in compatible toolholders.
  • HSC and HPC capable: Developed for demanding high-speed and high-performance machining when used with suitable machine, holder and cutting parameters.
  • Yellow identification ring: Quickly identifies the cutter as part of Maykestag&s Speedcut-Aluminium application family.

Why Choose Maykestag?

Maykestag specialises in precision cutting tools for professional machining, with tool geometry developed around specific materials and production requirements. With aluminium machining, flute design, cutting-edge geometry and chip evacuation are especially important because poor chip control can quickly affect surface finish, cutting stability and tool life.

The Code 7950 range combines solid carbide construction with Maykestag&s Speedcut-Aluminium geometry, unequal spiral angles and a neck-relieved long-series design. The result is a specialised milling cutter intended for productive machining where accuracy, reliable chip evacuation and a clean cutting action are essential.

Designed for Stable, Productive Aluminium Milling

The combination of three cutting edges and unequal 34°–38° spiral angles changes the timing with which each cutting edge engages the workpiece. This helps prevent cutting forces from repeating at exactly the same interval, improving cutting stability and helping suppress vibration. Together with the Type W geometry and generous flute space, this makes the cutter particularly well suited to productive machining of aluminium.

The relieved neck also provides useful clearance beyond the 8mm cutting length. With an overall relieved reach of 14mm, the cutter can work around deeper shoulders and profiles while reducing unnecessary contact between the tool neck and the workpiece. Correct spindle speed, feed rate, radial engagement and chip evacuation remain essential for achieving the best performance.

Yellow ring classification

The yellow identification ring on the Code 7950 cutter identifies the Speedcut-Aluminium application family. The geometry of this series is developed primarily around the machining characteristics of aluminium and suitable non-ferrous materials, where efficient chip evacuation and a clean cutting action are particularly important.

What does Type W mean?

Type W identifies a cutting geometry intended for comparatively soft and long-chipping materials. In the Code 7950 range, this geometry works together with the large flute spaces and Speedcut-Aluminium design to promote efficient chip evacuation when machining aluminium and other suitable non-ferrous materials.

Why unequal spiral angles?

The Code 7950 uses different spiral angles between 34° and 38°. Unequal helix geometry changes the timing with which the individual cutting edges engage the workpiece. This helps prevent cutting forces from repeating at exactly the same interval and can reduce vibration, improve machining stability and contribute to a cleaner surface finish.

What does the neck relief do?

The cutter has a reduced-diameter neck behind the cutting section. On this 3mm version the cutting diameter is 3.00mm while the neck diameter is 2.90mm. This small amount of radial clearance reduces the possibility of the tool neck rubbing against the workpiece when machining deeper profiles, shoulders or walls.

What is a DIN 6535-HB shank?

DIN 6535-HB specifies a cylindrical precision shank with a clamping flat. The flat provides positive location and secure transmission of cutting forces when the tool is held in a compatible holder. For this 3mm cutter the shank diameter is 6.00mm h6.
