Tork Craft Mechanical Torque Wrench 1/4" Drive 5-25Nm TCTQ1425-01

At a Glance: Compact 1/4" drive mechanical torque wrench with a 5-25Nm torque range, ±3% accuracy, 72-tooth ratchet mechanism and easy-to-adjust macro and micro torque scales.

The Tork Craft TCTQ1425-01 Mechanical Torque Wrench is designed for controlled tightening and loosening of screws, bolts and nuts to a desired torque setting. Its compact 1/4" square drive and 5-25Nm torque range make it particularly useful for smaller fasteners and lower-torque applications where accurate and repeatable fastening is important.

The wrench uses a combination of macro and micro torque scales to help set the required torque value accurately. Adjustment is provided in 1Nm increments, while the adjustment locking collar helps secure the chosen torque setting before work begins.

A 72-tooth ratchet mechanism provides fine ratcheting movement, making the TCTQ1425-01 especially practical where working space around a fastener is limited. The direction paddle allows easy selection of the ratchet direction, while the knurled aluminium handle provides a positive gripping surface for controlled operation.

Compact precision torque control for smaller fasteners

With its 1/4" square drive and focused 5-25Nm working range, the TCTQ1425-01 is designed for applications where controlled lower torque values are required. The mechanical scale system keeps operation straightforward, while the 72-tooth ratchet and locking adjustment make it a practical addition to the workshop or service toolkit.

Extra Information

Understanding the macro and micro torque scales

The TCTQ1425-01 uses both a macro torque scale and a micro torque scale as part of its mechanical adjustment system. Together, these scales allow the required torque setting to be selected within the wrench&s 5-25Nm working range.

Adjustment locking collar

Once the required torque value has been selected, the adjustment locking collar helps secure the setting. This is particularly useful when several fasteners need to be tightened using the same torque value.

72-tooth ratchet mechanism

The 72-tooth ratchet mechanism provides fine ratcheting movement. This makes the wrench particularly useful where there is limited room to move the handle between each ratchet engagement.

Nm and lb.ft torque scales

The torque wrench provides settings in Newton metres (Nm) and pound-feet (lb.ft), allowing convenient reference when the applicable torque specification is supplied in either measurement unit.

Why use a 1/4" drive torque wrench?

A 1/4" drive torque wrench is well suited to smaller sockets and lower-torque applications. The TCTQ1425-01 covers a focused 5-25Nm range, providing controlled torque adjustment where a larger, higher-capacity wrench would be unnecessary.

Torque wrench calibration

A torque wrench is a precision tool and its calibration should be checked periodically. Tork Craft recommends checking calibration at least once a year, after abnormal handling or overloading, or after approximately 5000 cycles.

Correct handling matters

Always apply the load through the grip of the wrench. Do not use a pipe, extension bar or other device over the handle to create additional leverage, and never apply torque beyond the wrench&s maximum rated capacity.

Pro Tips

  • Confirm the specification: Always check the required torque value specified for the fastener or component before starting.
  • Stay within the range: Do not exceed the maximum 25Nm torque capacity of the wrench.
  • Read both scales: Check the macro and micro torque scales carefully when selecting the required torque value.
  • Lock the adjustment: Secure the selected setting using the adjustment locking collar before applying torque.
  • Use the correct socket: Fit a suitable 1/4" drive socket that matches the fastener correctly.
  • Apply force through the grip: Use the knurled aluminium handle as the intended load point.
  • Never add leverage: Do not place a pipe or extension bar over the handle.
  • Protect the calibration: Avoid dropping, overloading or mishandling the torque wrench.
  • Store it correctly: Keep the wrench in its blow moulded case and avoid excessive heat, humidity and direct sunlight.

How to Use

  • Confirm the required torque: Refer to the applicable manufacturer specification for the screw, bolt or nut being tightened.
  • Select the torque setting: Use the macro and micro torque scales to set the required value within the 5-25Nm operating range.
  • Lock the setting: Secure the selected torque using the adjustment locking collar.
  • Select the ratchet direction: Position the direction paddle as required for the task.
  • Fit the socket: Attach a suitable 1/4" drive socket securely to the square drive.
  • Position the wrench: Place the socket fully and correctly onto the fastener.
  • Grip correctly: Hold the wrench by the knurled aluminium handle and apply load through the grip.
  • Apply torque steadily: Apply controlled force while keeping the wrench properly aligned with the fastener.
  • Do not overload: Never apply torque beyond the maximum 25Nm capacity.
  • Store safely: Return the torque wrench to its blow moulded case after use and keep it away from excessive heat, humidity and direct sunlight.

Safety

  • Always use the correct torque wrench and socket for the application.
  • Do not apply torque in excess of the wrench&s maximum 25Nm capacity.
  • Apply load through the grip only.
  • Do not use handle extension bars or pipes to gain additional leverage.
  • Do not disassemble the torque wrench for any reason.
  • Highly stressed internal components may cause severe injury if released unintentionally.
  • Have the wrench recalibrated periodically to maintain torque accuracy.
  • Calibration should be checked at least once a year, after abnormal handling or overloading, or after approximately 5000 cycles.
  • Do not store the wrench where it will be exposed to excessive heat, humidity or direct sunlight.
  • Always follow the applicable manufacturer-specified torque value for the fastener being worked on.
